Who We are

Our Story

Fountain of Life Children’s Home was born out of compassion in 1996. What began as a simple Sunday feeding program for street children in Pumwani soon grew into something greater. The children kept coming—seeking not just food, but love, safety, and belonging. One Sunday, they refused to leave the church grounds. Moved by their need, the late Pastor Mbai opened the doors of his church and created a shelter for them.

From that moment, Fountain of Life became more than just a feeding program. It became a home, a family, and a place of transformation.

Our Mission

To provide marginalized and abused boys with a safe, nurturing environment where they can grow spiritually, emotionally, and academically.

Our Vision

A society where every child has the opportunity to live with dignity, purpose, and hope.

 Our Growth

Today, the Children’s Home is lovingly led by Bishop Florence Mbai, the widow of the late Pastor Mbai. Under her leadership, the home has grown into a permanent sanctuary based in Saika, Mowlem, offering holistic care for marginalized and abused boys.

Since its humble beginnings, Fountain of Life has hosted and nurtured over 700 boys who have successfully transitioned back into society—educated, reformed, and well settled in life. Many of them are now responsible men, breaking cycles of poverty and hopelessness, and creating brighter futures for themselves and their families.

Our Journey to Saika

The story of Fountain of Life Children’s Home is not just one of compassion, but also of faith, trials, and victory.

For many years after its birth in Pumwani, the home thrived as a sanctuary for boys in need. But in 2007, tragedy struck. Rogue developers forcefully took over the land where the original children’s home stood. In a single blow, the boys lost the only place they had ever called home.

With no shelter, the leadership had to act quickly. The children were relocated to rental houses in Kimathi, where they lived for several years. It was a difficult time—uncertain, unstable, and filled with challenges. Yet through it all, the boys remained cared for, fed, and nurtured.

Bishop Florence Mbai, who had taken over the leadership after the passing of her husband, refused to give up. Holding onto faith, she continued to pray and work tirelessly for a permanent home where the children could once again feel safe and secure.

And then, in 2011, God answered. Fountain of Life Children’s Home was blessed with a piece of land in Saika, Mowlem, where the children could finally settle. What began with faith and perseverance became a permanent sanctuary—a home built not only on bricks and mortar but also on prayer, sacrifice, and love.

Today, the Saika home stands as a testimony of God’s faithfulness. It is a place where boys who once lived on the streets can now laugh, learn, and dream again.
